Description Conventional pheromone traps only monitor moth numbers. In contrast, InsecTrac® CLTab® is an innovative auto-confusion system that uses pheromones to actively disrupt populations of keratin-feeding fabric moths, such as the Clothes Moth (Tineola bisselliella). It is ideal for use as an enhanced monitoring system in museums, historic houses, textile collections, carpet warehouses, and homes. At the heart of the system is patented Entostat powder technology, which transfers female pheromones onto male moths. This unique process spreads sexual confusion throughout the male population, breaking the breeding cycle and significantly reducing moth numbers. Between 2007 and 2014, full-scale trials were carried out at some of the UK’s most important heritage sites, including Marble Hill House, the Natural History Museum, Hampton Court Palace, and West Dean College. Conducted in collaboration with English Heritage, these studies compared moth catches in areas using CLTab® with historic trapping data across several years. The results were striking. At Marble Hill House, for example, over 40 adult male moths were being caught annually in 2006. Following the installation of CLTab®, this fell to just 5 the next year, with numbers continuing to decline and remain low through 2011.
