Gammel Dansk Bitter Dram

This very traditional drink is a bitter dram – it’s closest cousins would be Fernet Branca and Jaegermister. It is a bitter liqiour blended of 29 different spices, herbs and even flowers. Spices include angelica, star anise, nutmeg, anise, ginger, laurel, gentian, Seville orange and cinnamon, and several others. Enjoyed by many a Danes as a brunch drink at festive occasions – it is served in shots and these are drunk “in one”. The name “Gammel Dansk” means “old Danish”. Best served at room temperature.
